I posted the vid of the Keeler December meeting. It was a 3 hour meeting and a lot was on the agenda. The Ambulance issue comes up at the 2 hour 3 minute mark. Joe had a pile of paper, each one documenting a breach of the contract.
First I'd like to congratulate the new Keeler Township board. Joe True Supervisor, and the republican party ticket of Carmen Fleishchauer and Tom Landis for trustees. I could be snide and use the metric one trustee used to explain about a 'vocal minority' to point out only 22% of the people voted for him. But at this stage let's hope everyone focuses on the betterment of the township so I'll let bygones be bygones. I actually know all three winners and they're good people, even if I have disagreed on some of their points of logic.
There are many candidates running for the Keeler board. Many of them are my neighbors, are good people, and I have nothing against them personally. However for a Keeler board that listens to the people I recommend True for Supervisor, Meersman and Pitcher for Trustee. Remember vote for the individual, not straight party.
For Silver Creek vote YES and support the ambulance millage. Silver Creek used to have a Police and Ambulance Millage of 1.5 mills. That expired so it's not a new tax, it's replacing it.
First off I'd like to thank the Sister Lakes community church for their wonderful trunk or treat event last weekend. The kids had a great time and it was well put together. That was a really great community event. Other than politics not a lot else has happened this week... so on to the election.
The Herald Palladium had a local news story where they give a brief description and mini interview with each candidate. The full text can be found on their website here. Remember Nov 8th, and please remind everyone to VOTE FOR INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATES, NOT STRAIGHT PARTY.
More videos of the Meet the candidate event. I need to remember not to record in HD and stereo sound for these things, it makes the files huge to upload.
Question : How Should the township attract more businesses
Question: IF Silver Creek doesn't pass their ambulance millage, how should Keeler respond IF it gets back Sister Lakes Ambulance?
The Lions club was nice enough to host a Meet the Candidates event. There are a lot of good people running for the board openings because of the successful recall. I'm fortunate enough to know, be neighbors with, or in one case be related to, many of the candidates. While I endorse - and encourage others to back - Joe True for Supervisor and Tim Pitcher and Jim Meersman for Trustee since they are definitely behind Sister Lakes Ambulance, I filmed the entire thing and have been putting it on YouTube so everyone gets a chance to meet the candidates and make their own decision.
There are 2 meet the candidate events schedule for this Nov 8 election. The first is at the Lions, Oct 13, from 7-9pm. The next is Oct 20 at the Keeler twp hall, from 7-9pm.
Voters should show up and find out for themselves just where the candidates stand on the important issues. As the Successful Recall was about the bad decision to switch to Coloma EMS, this election should be to ensure we elect people to correct this mistake.
There are many good people seeking to fill the open positions this November. Any candidate that is running I'll glady let them give a position piece on this website, just drop me an email. However I'll firmly state that backing Blackmond is not in the best interests of Keeler township. Here are a few reasons why
