The new Keeler board (Well it still has the old timers of Millhouse and Davis, but with the new supervisor True and two new trustees of Fleischauer and Landis) had a very interesting meeting. I'm just going to hit the highlights and will post a better summary after uploading the video. Also ABC 57 was there filming - I have to say I'm impressed with the local news coverage. I wish I could get their channel but Dish Network won't let me!
First, the CEO of Pride Care admitted to our board they can not cover Keeler Township 24/7/365 like our contact states. Our board is going to talk to them to see about getting them in compliance with our contract. (Gee thanks old board of Kays, Blackmond, Daly, Davis, Millhouse for bringing in this substandard service. There's a reason so many people were against Coloma from the start).
Also the Big Crooked special lake hours ordinance was repealed in a vote, the matter is now in the hands of the DNR. A survey showed 60% of lake property owners were for going back to the normal state laws.
Further our local county has been trying to save money (165,000 local, 150,000 state level, per year) by only using 4 judges instead of 5 after one retired. The 4 judge system has been working for months and our system has not become overworked. However some legislators have been against this and wants us to hire another judge. In fact a state bill was written to force this hiring - and the author of the bill is not disclosed. Our county Clerk and Commission can not find the name of who even is behind this.
The rest of the 2 1/2 hour meeting will be commented on and uploaded tomorrow.
